This Is The Widest 993 Porsche 911 We’ve Ever Seen
And it doesn’t come from Stuttgart. Try Southern California. While Singer Vehicle Design performs its magic on the 964 Porsche 911, Orange County, California-based Gunther Werks does the same to the 993 911. Presenting what’s probably the most dedicated re-mastered 993 to date, the 993 400R. Gunther Werks teamed up with Oregon-based Rothsport Racing, which has 30 years of Porsche building and racing experience, to build this ultimate 993, the last generation of the air-cooled Porsche 911s.Powered by a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter with 431 hp and 302 lb-ft of torque, the 993 400R reportedly has 352 hp per ton, making its power-to-weight ratio better than the current generation 911 GT3 RS. Impressive. This was done by shaving as much weight as possible. Nearly every component was upgraded or redesigned. Total weight is just 2,700 pounds. As for the exterior, its custom-molded carbon fiber widebody track width is wider than any 911 ever built by Porsche in Stuttgart. That track width increases to 63 inches in the front and the rear in order to create a square setup, a move inspired by Porsche’s racing cars.
